Feedback, Ideas, and Troubleshooting

A few months ago, a group of community members at Schoolhouse.world realized the importance of academic competitions such as AMC MATHCOUNTS Olympiads (USABO, USNCO, USACO, etc.) ISEF Quizbowl Speech and Debate The harsh reality of our world is that not everyone is in a position to afford or even attend college. Scholarships and opportunities/recognition for these students would be life-changing, but very few receive them. Unfortunately, the cost of preparing (whether it be resources or study materials) for academic competitions blocks almost all opportunities for lower-to-middle-income students to participate in these competitions and win. As such, the benefits of dedicating a space on Schoolhouse.world for free tutoring to share information about these competitions and how to do well would be invaluable, especially for those in need. Economics is a required subject for graduation in my school, and I feel that there would definitely be a sizable demand for economics tutoring on Schoolhouse. Subjects such as Calculus and Statistics are offered on Schoolhouse despite being relatively advanced and catering mainly to AP students, so I believe there is definitely a place for economics tutoring on this platform.

Many APs are not included in any of the main subworlds. I want to propose an idea that allows schoolhouse to serve all AP students. Problem 1: Many AP students might not be able to find appropriate tutors for the APs that are part of the main subworlds (such as AP Psychology) because there is no certification system for them. For example, you can find an AP psychology session in enrichment sometimes but you can't make sure that the tutor is actually qualified with it. Problem 2: You can't ask questions in the enrichment subworld for APs not covered in other subworlds. APs are important for college admissions and readiness. But sometimes highschools report offering APs but they are not giving sufficient prep and support for them. Solution option 1: Have a subworld for all AP subjects not covered by the other subworlds (such as AP psych, AP seminar, AP research, AP precalc, AP Environmental Science, AP Languages, AP 2D Art, etc.....) Solution option 2: Have a subworld for all AP subjects. Considerations and obstacles to such ideas: 1) Either subworld ideas will need more advanced filtering systems for tutors and learners to be able to work properly. For example, in the area to ask questions there should be a property to see questions by subject. So instead of only filtering by solved and not solved there should be ability to see only questions from a specific subject. 2) There should be a more advanced system in the subworld so that you are only a tutor inside specific subjects that you are certified in.

I know that I and many other students struggle in our language classes (French, Spanish, etc.) It would be really cool if we could get a subworld for foreign languages! There are AP certifications available for these too and I feel like it's a subject that's neglected but also really hard to get help for. Please upvote and consider this!

You should add more AP Subworlds. It is better than going through the normal subworld and having to find a certified AP tutor.

I'm an Arabic student and I've been using Schoolhouse for almost a year! Schoolhouse has helped me a lot in my studies! but just one suggestion was It would be great if Schoolhouse could have a Subworld for Languages, any language, I really need a 1 to 1 tutor for learning certain languages (E.g Arabic, German, Japanese etc...)

This could be a subworld for teens to learn about finance. There are already courses in khan academy for this and I bet a bunch of people would love to learn/teach in this subworld

I think that there should be a separate subworld for subjects like economics, accounts, and business managements subjects, and should also be inclusive of global perspective. Many tutors on enrichment teach it and they should earn hours. Apart from that there are many learners who need help in these subjects who take AP and IB as well or maybe just want to be more financially literate. This subworld is essential!!!

This is basically a business studies subworld, business usually has 5 main components, Human Resource, Marketing, Operations Management, Financial Management and Managerial Economics. This can be a possible subworld where we can have honorary certifications and even regular certifications, there are some courses on khan academy which teach these business components.

Both the AP Capstone Program and Research for high schoolers have been becoming much more common over these past couple of years. This class and activity tends to need a lot of support due to the complexity and amount of work that go along with both. Having this subworld would support many students due to the complex and unique nature of this class/topic.
