Advocation for Academic Competition Subworld
Hello everyone! A few months ago, a group of community members at Schoolhouse.world realized the importance of academic competitions such as AMC MATHCOUNTS Olympiads (USABO, USNCO, USACO, etc.) ISEF Quizbowl Speech and Debate The harsh reality of our world is that not everyone is in a position to afford or even attend college. Scholarships and opportunities/recognition for these students would be life-changing, but very few receive them. Unfortunately, the cost of preparing (whether it be resources or study materials) for academic competitions blocks almost all opportunities for lower-to-middle-income students to participate in these competitions and win. As such, the benefits of dedicating a space on Schoolhouse.world for free tutoring to share information about these competitions and how to do well would be invaluable, especially for those in need. If you wish to learn more, read our blog post here: https://schoolhouse.world/blog/the-need-for-an-academic-competition-subworld Summary: Academic competitions provide great opportunities, achievements, and possible scholarships to students around the world Preparation for these competitions is costly and harms students’s competitive chances Schoolhouse.world is the perfect place for students to come together to provide free tutoring/training/preparation in these subjects to make academic competitions easier and more affordable for everyone Please vote above if you are interested in tutoring, learning, or anything related to academic competitions

High School Science Subworlds
Hi everyone! I've been thinking about the AP Bio and AP Chem subworlds and why High School version of them are important! There are topics found in High School not covered by the AP versions. I am a AP Chem certified tutor, although I don't yet understand the 'why' behind it (I'm not hosting anything before I do!). In other words, I can teach parts of the AP test but not the High School underlying concepts. When I first dipped my toes into AP Chem certifying, I found that AP and HS Sciences are very much different topics, and someone This is like Pre-Algebra and Algebra l: how even though an Algebra l tutor probably knows Pre-Algebra, they still can't host a Pre-Algebra session under Algebra l. The median response time for the Bio and Chem subworlds have skyrocketed, with 64 minutes for Bio as opposed to 1 minute for Pre-Algebra. While Pre-Algebra and Algebra l are buzzing with posts and sessions, the AP Sciences have less engagement. Creating High School versions would definitely help manage both these problems, as many more tutors could get involved. Additionally, learners studying sciences in High School would know that they are being helped by someone who is knowledgeable about the specific topics they are covering, including High School specific curricula and tests. Although I know subworld planning and creation has paused for awhile and that it is usually more important to focus on the maintenance of existing subworlds, High School Science subworlds would be easy to implement (as they would just be a copy of the AP version but with a different certification process) and have potential to be helpful for higher engagement. Thank you for reading this! If you have any ideas, please share them in the comments!

Let's Get A Foreign Language Subworld! (Advocacy and Explanation)
To all of the community at Schoolhouse and to the Product Team, with this post I hope to explain about bringing a Foreign Language Subworld. Looking at Schoolhouse's article regarding creating new subworlds - https://schoolhouse.world/faq/en/article/what-subworlds-will-be-created-next-lchts5/ Let us address some of the things the product team should know about getting this subworld: Scoping: Interactive learning through speaking, listening, reading, writing, and practicing belongs in this subworld by learning new languages, becoming fluent in those languages, able to read, speak, and write in new languages. As there are thousands of languages spoken throughout the world (over 7000!), with Schoolhouse's diverse community, the community would teach a variety of languages able to allow this subworld to thrive. Additionally, a large percent of students (about 20% in the U.S.!) across the world take a foreign language classes and just like many other subworlds, like math and science, live tutoring and support for language questions and help wouldn't be a bad idea to add to the subworld. Currently, Enrichment is the hub for anyone wanting to learn a language and as enrichment is extremely diverse and contains a wide scope of things, filtering languages would clear up some space and better organize languages in Schoolhouse. A lecture-style learning without any speaking or interaction between the learner can't thrive in this subworld, as speaking is a primary part of becoming fluent in foreign languages. Often in many sessions, learners go about without any interaction. Is there significant demonstrated interest from across the community in having this subworld? There has been many posts gathering many votes across Schoolhouse Feedback & Ideas regarding this topic! I wanted to organize everything into one post the community can vote on and provide their input on! A large number of people have shown interest and are quite excited in partnering to leading this subworld to success. Right now, our community is primarily made up of English-speaking high school students taking the SAT. Does this subworld deepen the impact we can have on these students? According to the U.S. Department of Education as well as numerous other universities, learning a 2nd language can help improve your cognitive abilities, vocabulary, writing, and interpretation of sources, helping a lot with analytical and thinking questions given by the SAT. With considering the interactions aspect that especially language advocates for with different phonetics, and sounds, necessary for speaking in linguistics, a foreign language subworld will help build Schoolhouse to becoming a more impactful place through it's increase in interactions and help. Feel free to add more explanation and input regarding this topic!
