Feedback, Ideas, and Troubleshooting

I think that bringing ACT prep to schoolhouse would be a great idea: it's an excellent way to reach out to new learners, as the ACT currently has about 45% market share and is the test of choice in the midwest and southern US. Also, there's possibly even more demand for free prep in this area, as no ACT equivalent for Khan Academy's free and accessible SAT prep exists. We could certify tutors using ACT scores, and have a few tutors leading an initiative to gather resources, train tutors, etc.

Having a mobile app for schoolhouse.world would make accessing the platform easier on the go. It would allow people to join sessions easily when they do not have access to computers and it could raise attendance rates by sending app notifications of upcoming sessions.

This just pop in my mind, but I find it helpful if we have all the sessions we are attending or hosting all organized in a monthly calendar instead of scrolling down from a list. Hosting and attending can be in different colors. We could still keep the long list but also have a better visual of it on a calendar.

This would reduce the backlog in certification, and result in applications being more quickly addressed. Also, it would provide another way for volunteer hours to be earned.

Tutors choose a student at the end of a session to be the "scholar" of the session. Every time they receive the "scholar" title, they will get one point. After x number of points have been acquired, they can spin a wheel to win a prize. This will give learners the initiative to pay attention and engage in class, join sessions with less people (as it gives them more of a chance to receive this) and it prevents spam joining classes. -Raina's suggestion We could also only let the learners know that they can spin a prize once they reach the number x/don't tell them who became the "scholar", as I think that if they find out that they were not selected, they will give the tutor a bad rating, or not attend another of that tutor's sessions. -Athena's addition

Could we have a separate page on a series where tutors can share all of their resources? Instead of dropping links after each session in the group chat, they could a separate page where they can share and organize all of their resources (a locker for files).

I’m currently running an AoPS series, in which homework is an important part to maximize learning. For each session, I post a pdf of exercise problems and then ask learners to submit their responses via a Google Form. After their submission, the form would release my pdf solutions. To make this post-session process easier and more organized, it would be nice if SHW could implement a homework submission functionality, where tutors can review learners’ problem responses (hopefully including some math proofs :), provide some personalized feedback, and also potentially go over some of the missed problems in class. Furthermore, I think that having a centralized place for series and corresponding homework will help learners keep track of material and have a smoother time accessing and completing the exercises.

I've had quite a few people ask through user support if they could request a session from a specific tutor; would it be possible to implement something for this? Two ideas I have: 1) "Request a session" button on the tutor's profile page 2) A place when submitting a session request allowing users to select a tutor that they'd prefer if they have one in mind

We can bring in professionals (doctors, lawyers, pilots, entrepreneurs, engineers, musicians, etc.) to talk about their jobs and their work-life balance. The learners can also ask the professionals anything about their education, why they wanted to go into that field, etc. This would be a great way to expose different types of jobs which people might be interested in! I was thinking that we could have a team that would be split up into a few groups and each person in the group would responsible for reaching out to professionals in a particular field. We can have a coda doc to manage everyone we have reached out to and everyone who is planning on hosting a session to avoid repeats.
