Learners have access to community channels they should not, like SAT Bootcamp Tutors and College Admissions Workshop Tutors
Michael G
A conversation in community channels today revealed learners now have access to channels meant to be private to tutors. See https://schoolhouse.world/dashboard/community/c/194?p=140470. This is a regression and serious - I'll also report it to user support.

Hi Michael! Thank you for concern for user privacy. In this case, the channels were never meant to be private; there are no announcements or conversations that go on in these channels that must be strictly for tutor eyes only. A learner may find the information irrelevant, but their discovery of it won't cause any kind of harm to anyone on the platform.
You had expressed uncertainty about the logic behind how a user gets added. The answer is intent: if a user expresses the intention to tutor, regardless of if/when they follow through on that attention, then we will add them to the tutor channel.
I hope that clarifies the behavior going on here. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Max K I added some follow-up questions in Slack that I'll partially repeat here.
Are you saying there was no recent product change here? Learners with zero certifications have always had access to these channels? Can you clarify the precise trigger that lets one see these channels (you mentioned "the intention to tutor")? A learner I know that does not see these channels just went through some steps to convey interest in being a tutor (just to test this for me). They clicked the "Become a Tutor" link that appears where My Tutoring would normally be for tutors, then clicked Agree in the dialog that appears, then added SAT Bootcamp as a program, and they don't see SAT Bootcamp Tutors.
Seeing two learners post in SAT Bootcamp Tutors in the last week, after never having observed it before, plus seeing (from the test I had a learner do) that other learners do not have access to these channels, despite seemingly expressing intent to tutor, has me still confused about visiblity of these channels.

One clarification is that not all learners have access to these channels, and I'm not sure what determines whether users have access or not. The learner in the community channel post I linked above sees them. The learner in https://schoolhouse.world/dashboard/community/c/194?p=140145 must see at least SAT Bootcamp Tutors, because they posted in it. They both show as new users as of August 2026. A learner I know that joined in June or July 2026 does not see these channels. Maybe that's a clue?
