Many learners join sessions just for the SP 😭, literally 5 seconds into the session they will leave

One idea i have is that we reward learners with a certain amount of SP for how long they stayed in and engaged in the session, what do you think?

Maybe the requirement could be like learners have to be in the session for 90% of the session in order to receive SP because different sessions have different timings, like some may be 1 hour while others are 1.5 hours long

Rathna M. I love that idea but maybe if they join they have to join the whole sessions (In case they have to leave; they need to tell the tutor and the tutor can adjust their hours or tell one of the Schoolhouse heads) but if they leave early then their points will be deducted.

what even is the point of SP?

Hyemin L To encourage people to join the session

I agree, I think it should work similar to the way that Khan Academy type videos work. Another idea I have is to maybe have the tutor reward the “most engaged” learner in the session with 10-20% more SP to encourage responses, but I see that this idea could be abused.

Jack R yeah like for example a metric that could check how much a learner responds.

The funny thing is: You actually don't even have to join to get SP. If you click the join session button, and then close the tab before you get redirected to Zoom, it automatically gives you the SP and you don't even have to join 😭

Aneesh M No way!!! That is SOO messed up

Aneesh M really? Oh yeah I just realized.

Thanks for sharing, Arjun! We're always thinking of ways to improve learner engagement, and by extension the tutoring experience here at SHW, so this is something we'll keep in mind!
