Learners' Module

There are quite amount of no. of trainings and modules that a tutor goes through. But, we do not have one for learners.
This module will address certain guidelines that should be followed by all users (and most users do!).
However, sometimes, disrespectful behavior (whether intentional or unintentional) can appear on the platform. And these days a few situations have been reported where learners sign up but don’t show up frequently, having no patience in the sessions if they join late or have missed any prior sessions, not understanding that tutors are also learning and they need a space to improve and polish their skills, requesting sessions but not showing up timely, and some other related activities.
I'm absolutely not considering the whole learners' community but just a few who act these way! Hence, to prevent this and considering having more and more users, I think it would be good if there's anything that would at least bind learners to some extend so they abide by and respect tutors' time and efforts.

There could also be modules for learners related to note-taking, how to ask better questions, study skills, etc.!

Jose Roberto Cossich G: Thanks for this suggestion, Jose! I love the learner-facing modules on asking questions, taking notes, what to do before and after attending sessions—essentially, how to make the most of Schoolhouse as a learner, so that should also include earning Maths certifications, using the transcript, customising profile, etc to have a fun and engaging, safe and effective learning experience on the platform.
But just wanted to share that for study skills in particular there's some free tutoring already. This goes above and beyond study skills, actualy, and grounds it in the context of taking charge of your learning: https://schoolhouse.world/series/733?celebrate

Hi Simran, I love this idea! But a couple of suggestions to streamline it to what's already on the site. First, maybe a handy policy page with links to all Guidelines (learner, community, tutor, session, safety, privacy, etc etc) can help quickly access our platform rules for new learners.
Second, those modules can be nudged to learners upon creating a new account, since all users are by default learners. And how about, instead of typeform, modules just link to public videos on the Schoolhouse YouTube channel? There's an amazing Community Guidelines video there, and a couple more for learner guidelines will probably go a long, long way in nudging appropriate conduct.

What about some community-created guidelines that would be easily visible on the platform? And, in line with that, a series of spots (with actors and subtitles) with undesirable vs. desirable behavior showed at the sign-up that people would have to watch to get in?

Biggest question is if this is the most effective way to steer a learner towards participating on this platform respectfully, determining what brings someone to behave a certain way in the first place, etc.
Might want to consult with someone in the educational field who works with students that have encountered similar issues to give us better context about how this should work. Overall, I find this promising and am optimistic to hear more about it!

Quinn O: Agreed that we need to consider the goal here and whether training modules are the best way to go about it. That said, if we do find repeatable actions that the safety or mentor team or other teams keep taking re: disruptive learners, we may want to "automate" some of those actions and/or build modules for it that mentors can assign like they can with tutors. Thanks for the suggestion, Simran Rajani.
