Hopefully we could have different colors mode : pumpkin spice, raninbow, etc.

FYI, encourage y'all to use your browser's in-build dark mode (or another Chrome extension) until we can figure this out!

Hi SHW! Summer Camp page's black section provides a powerful template for Darker Mode. I love the gold text on black, and going forward what if we built out a theme that did what dark mode should? Users can choose between the current light default theme or the darker one which while not being a darker version of the site is rather a dark theme that's even better than dark mode.

Yes, Drew, yes! And users can toggle it on the drop-down profile menu on the top right. Or in Edit Profile. But what if we had a toggle-theme function, where one is the current theme, and the other is a darker theme? Not 'Dark Mode' per se, but a theme that does the job of dark mode.
There's another idea I wanted to share, and that's on an interface setting that's conducive to deep focus. How about a Focus Mode with muted notifications that hides Leaderboard, Feedback, Stories, and Blog, to facilitate deep concentration on learning and tutoring? Helpful for Certification quests, Live Help tutoring, and for teachers to track their student progress.

There's a lot of white and grey background shades on our platform right now. But on the Sign Up page, there's lovely little clouds in the background. What if we insert those clouds into Regular Mode Profile, so the whitespace gets some detail? And in Dark Mode we reimagine our existing design to fit the dark-background tones? I'm concerned about our Logo though—hope it looks good on Dark Mode. One coarse beta-test is in print, and our logo looks cool in it!

Does anyone have any Chrome extensions they use to turn schoolhouse.world into dark mode currently? If so, maybe a short term solution is to recommend that to our users.

Drew Bent: "Dark Reader" is the one I use. Chrome Web-store link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dark-reader/eimadpbcbfnmbkopoojfekhnkhdbieeh
It's open source, free, works for most sites; and should be a good fit for most SHW users.
Edit: Also available for firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/darkreader/

Drew Bent: I use a chrome flag (beta feature in chrome) to force dark mode on all websites and it works pretty good. You can enable it through this link and see if it looks good: chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark (the link includes 'chrome:')

Suryaansh C: What if, instead of officially engineering Dark Mode into the platform, Schoolhouse partners with a free Dark Mode provider and recommends it in FAQs? They could be organisational partners like Coda - the platform isn't a Coda doc anymore, but it's still our official document platform for volunteer team writings, Roadmap, and more!
